And did I mention...

He left his diabetic supplies at the previous place of staying? Two days with no insulin... no wonder he was getting lost and his car kept breaking down.

So, he got in at two this AM. At the moment, my husband has taken him up to the VA hospital in Cheyenne (the Denver one was so overloaded, the wouldn't even return a phone call until next Monday), hoping to finagle some stuff until the goods can be shipped here.

The fun never ends.

As for me, I'm picking wallpaper. Looking at the wallpaper books at my desk, rather than in Home Depot, is quite nice. Ordered drapes from J.C.Penney earlier. Later tonight, maybe I'll get to move my kitchen back into its proper place.

And of course, the kids haven't let me forget... Waldenbooks at the mall has an item for me to pick up, first thing tomorrow morning.

So, any bets on just WHO is the Half-blood Prince?

Weren't there indications of Neville in the last one? On the other hand, it could be an entirely new character, though Hagrid might be an obvious choice. Perhaps Hagrid's offspring with the giantess headmaster from that other wizard's school...?

...can't wait!

Hakim...

hahahahahaha! You lose! (I would have lost too, had I been a betting person.)

Totally lost, though I take some solace in my more accurate American Idol predictions from earlier this summer. Now, excuse me while I go to bed early, having stayed up until 1:30 last night to finish book six.

Before I go, however, am I the only one who thinks that the character death at the end was faked? It seemed as though such a move was being foreshadowed in the speech the (now dead) character made just before he/she/it bought it.

I kept waiting for the "not really" dead, Gandalf-like reappearance. I read on a bulletin board earlier today someone speculating that the departed had made previous arrangement with the person who caused the departure, and that the PWCTD "said" one spell while "nonverbally" said another. Nevertheless our hero made the key observation... the only reason he was released from the spell he was under was because the caster was really really dead. Beside, there is that new portrait, you know. I think I'd actually be disappointed if the dead character wasn't 'really' dead.

Besides, we learned from Luna in Five that the dead are still 'living' in some sense.

Did think of "Spiderman" there at the end... didn't you?

BTW I finished at 11:30, but I had to go back and read the last two chapters twice, so I put it down at last at 12:30. I NEED book seven!

I too need book seven. However, given my fabrication belief, I'm of the mind that the portrait and spell could have been released through other means. Eh, we'll just have to wait another two years. Hopefully by then I can afford to go back to Edinburgh to see the next one debuted by JKR herself...such an awesome town.

I also heard a speculation that the R.A.B. is Regulus Black, and that the Locket found in 13 Grimauld Place back in book 5 was the swapped item. That was the best speculation I read all day.

I'm more deferential to the theory that HP's the last horcrux.

My lord we're obsessed, aren't we? Must...get...work...done...
Coffinberry said…
But don't you have to be dead to be a horcrux?

Whoa, though. That's a great speculation! Didn't Dumbledore explicitly say back in (what was it, Two?) somewhere that Lord Voldemort left a bit of himself in Harry?

And I've got an excuse. I'm waiting for paint to dry (the vinyl layers refused to lay the vinyl in the master bath until I'd multi-coated the subfloor with Kilz... wish they'd told me sooner).

I don't recall if you have to be dead to be a horcrux. Though the notion that the snake is one would seem to defeat that idea.

...and on that note, cite-checking is calling my name. She's a wicked mistress, that cite-checking...
